IVECO DAILY range crowned What Van? Large Van of the Year 2024

The class-leading IVECO Daily range has claimed the prestigious industry award of the What Van? Large Van of the Year 2024.

The What Van? Awards, which were held on Wednesday 6th December at the Hilton, London Bankside, are recognised as the most prestigious independent accolades in the UK’s light commercial vehicle industry.

The hotly contested category saw the IVECO Daily go up against strong competition, but the IVECO’s diverse set of applications and multi-energy approach impressed judges. A tough truck-based chassis delivers up to 3.5-tonne towing capacity, a class-leading cargo space of up to 19.6m3, and an impressive 4.9-tonne payload on 7.2-tonne Daily models.

The IVECO Daily has been a staple of the commercial vehicle landscape for over 45 years, and throughout its decades of accomplishing the most challenging of missions, it has gained a reputation for durability, usability, and favourable total cost of ownership.

James Dallas, What Van? Editor said “The extensive IVECO Daily range is renowned for its toughness, being ideal for conversions, and the new electric version, available with a choice of one to four batteries, can stand shoulder to shoulder with its ICE sibling.”

IVECO UK Light Business-line Director, Mike Cutts added “It is fantastic to see the IVECO Daily receiving the recognition it deserves. This diverse vehicle has been the backbone of many demanding missions, and with Daily CNG and eDaily, operators can dramatically reduce their emissions.”

Operators seeking a zero-emissions vehicle for even the most demanding missions now have a viable solution in the form of eDaily. Available with up to four innovative modular batteries that enable operators to balance payload and range, and GVW from 3.5 to 7.2-tonnes, it offers all of the traits Daily is valued for, just electric. An up to 3.5-tonne towing capacity is unrivalled in its class, likewise its extensive range of body styles. Missions requiring impressive onboard power for equipment are also catered for with eDaily’s ePTO, now up to 50kW.

A range of Euro 6E diesel engines provide a good balance of power and efficiency with a Natural Gas (CNG) engine supplying a diesel rivalling 136hp while reducing emissions by up to 95% when run on biomethane.

The Daily was the first vehicle in its sector to offer a smooth eight-speed Hi-Matic automatic transmission, while a six-speed manual gearbox is available, reducing free play by 50% versus previous models. Clutch durability has been boosted by 18%, while oil change intervals are 350,000km.

Another first for the segment supplied by the Daily is AIR-PRO pneumatic rear suspension that continuously adapts to conditions. By calculating individual shock absorber pressure every 10 milliseconds, a 25% reduction in vibrations and a 30% reduction in roll angle helps contribute to a more relaxed driving experience. Additional comfort is provided by yet another first, Hi-Comfort seats. The Daily features memory foam central cushion pads, backrest and headrest to help reduce pressure peaks by up to 30%.
