H2Accelerate BP

BP becomes latest addition to the H2Accelerate collaboration.

We’re delighted that bp has become the latest big player to join the H2Accelerate collaboration, which is dedicated to accelerating the uptake of low carbon hydrogen for trucking.

With an ambition to become a net zero company by 2050, bp will invest in building infrastructure to support freight transport across major road networks in mainland Europe and the UK by 2030.

The fuel giant will also advocate for the policies needed to rapidly upscale the European hydrogen freight ecosystem.

Hannah Bryson-Jones, spokesperson for H2Accelerate, is delighted to welcome bp to the collaboration.

She said: “bp has extensive experience and expertise across the deployment of hydrogen production and refuelling technologies.

Combining that expertise with other hydrogen refuelling players and truck manufacturers, through the H2Accelerate collaboration, we can work together to accelerate the dawn of hydrogen trucking.

We are very excited for bp to be joining the collaboration as we shape the transformation towards sustainable transportation.”

Emma Delaney, who works on EVP, Customers & Product at bp said: “bp is transitioning from an International Oil Company to an Integrated Energy company and having a key role in mobility.

“Hydrogen will be a key energy for heavy duty transport supporting carbon emissions reduction.

“To deliver this at both scale and pace will need companies across industries to work together, and this is exactly why we see collaborations like H2Accelerate as so valuable.”

IVECO is one of three truck manufacturers in the H2Accelerate collaboration. It’s investing in electric and hydrogen technology with driveline specialist FPT Industrial, also part of CNH Industrial, and through its partnership with Nikola Corporation.

One of the latest innovations is the IVECO S-WAY Natural Gas, which maximises the advantages of the most environmentally friendly fuel to improve air quality with less Particulate Matter and less NO2, and mitigate climate change by reducing CO2 by 95% with biomethane.

It also contributes to a quieter environment with just 71dB(A) Piek Quiet Truck when running in Silent Mode, which is ideal for night-time deliveries. The IVECO S-WAY is powered by the most mature natural gas technology on the market.
