Northern Commercials’ sponsored racer Gravity Fuelled Motorsports’ Graham Charman featured at the Silverstone race circuit for The BRSCC ZEO Prototype event on 17th March. The ZEO Prototype series features all types of sports prototypes and racing cars reaching incredibly high speeds around some the UK’s greatest racing circuits.

This was first race of the season which was hosted at Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix. The Silverstone racing circuit has a capacity of 160,000 and has been at the forefront of British racing for over 70 years. The qualifying round was a tough race for Gravity Fuelled Motorsports’ qualifying with the engine being unable to rev over 6000 rpm. The fine British weather resulted in a wet track and lack of visibility, fortunately everyone finished safely with only a couple spins. It turned out the engines third cylinder spark plug lost its tip which needed replacing before the first race.

Due to the engine issues in qualifying, Gravity Fuelled Motorsports had an 8 th place starting posotion. After a bump with another car and a very wet racecourse, Gravity Fuelled Motorsports managed to make their way up the field to a third-place finish. Fortunately, both cars involved in the bump were fine and managed to finish the race. The starting positions for the second race were based on the second fastest qualifying time in the initial qualifying round, this meant that Gravity Fuelled Motorsports had a 12 th place starting position going into the second race. The amount of skill it takes to overtake cars and manage corners with 23 large sports cars all trying to compete for spaces. Gravity Fuelled Motorsports was determined to not let the engine issues in qualifying deter him with overtaking cars to work his way up the track and catch up to the faster cars. As he entered Village corner the car lost power producing a large cloud of white smoke, the clutch was down and coasted off the circuit to safety. Back to the workshop to get the car ready for the next race.

Despite an upset in race two, everyone here at Northern Commercials are proud of Graham for his third-place finish and glad he managed to get off the track safely. It is always a pleasure to see the Northern Commercials logo featured on the sports car and can’t wait to see him at our local Brand’s Hatch Circuit in August.
