The new Euro 6 exhaust emissions will apply to all new heavy commercial vehicles registered from 1st January 2014, this will result in higher capital costs with increased prices to meet the legislation, which will affect all manufacturers.
Iveco are advising their Dealer network that orders for Euro 5 vehicles must be placed by June 15th in order to ensure vehicles are built prior to the derogation deadline of 30th September 2013, this may be brought forward subject to demand on the factory in Europe.
These vehicles, if built by 30th September 2013, will have derogation until 31st December 2014 when the vehicles will have to be registered.
Northern Commercials will be ordering a limited amount of stock vehicles, but this will not include vehicles which have specification beyond our normal stock orders.
Iveco will not start producing Euro 6 Engines until Oct/Nov 2013, for timings in line with the 2014 compliance.
We urgently request that you assess your needs going forward for the next 12 months to avert the higher costs for the Euro 6 and the almost certain insufficient stock levels all manufacturers will carry.
